On Saturday, I was doing a gig with a group of RCM string players in the beautiful village of Lamberhurst in Kent. I thoroughly recommend a visit there if you’re nearby. It’s my end-of-year recital examination tomorrow, woe betide me. However, Wednesday will see me taking a holiday in Amsterdam. The perfect end to an exciting term!

Collaboration with Klara Kjellen
I’ve recently been working with Swedish singer/songwriter Klara Kjellen who is well underway on her second album. We went into the studio yesterday to record a string quartet for a couple of her songs, which I’ve arranged. I was joined by the combined talents of Marie Schreer, Julian Fish and Phil Kelynack. Watch this space for the finished products!
In a Sentimental Mood
Here’s a classic from one of the most influential figures in the entire history of jazz. ‘In a Sentimental Mood’ by Duke Ellington.
Reinhardt remembered
I did a short lunchtime recital at the RCM last week, accompanied by three very talented fellows: Toby Nelms (piano), Jamie Kenny (bass) and Oli Patrick (kit). Here is one of the tunes we did: Daphne by Grappelli and Reinhardt.
I’m Old Fashioned
I don’t know if I’m old enough yet to be considered old-fashioned, but here’s the fourth video from the December sessions with The Garnish Trio.
Band time-lapse
It’s finally the end of a very long week. After a gig with the Garnish Trio, rehearsals and gig with Polaroid 85, two lessons and several sets of busking, I’m quite eager for Sunday! Here’s a time-lapse video of Polaroid 85 soundchecking at our Bedroom Bar gig on March 1st.
