‘Steel Skies’ is the third release from EMANATA. From the dark hip-hop vibes of the lead single ‘Nahualism’ to the space jazz of ‘Shut Eye’, the EP is unified by its strong sense of groove, inspired by the likes of The RH Factor, Snarky Puppy and José James. Recorded live in Trinity Studio, North London, and mixed and mastered by synth player Nikola Kovacevic, ‘Steel Skies’ is a refreshing addition to the electronic jazz catalogue of the moment.
Here’s a Submotion Orchestra cover (excellent band – check out their début album). This is a wonderful tune featuring beautiful strings on the original. I made my best attempt at sub-bass on a violin – you’ll need more than your laptop speakers to hear it! I’m away from real-life for the next four weeks, so this is my last offering for awhile. Sayonara!
